The Diamond View Analytics Origin Story
Diamond View Analytics was born at the intersection of two worlds that rarely meet, but share a common truth: performance improves when measurement becomes continuous, connected, and actionable.
For co-founder Wade Elliott, that realization started on the field. As a collegiate athlete, coach, and biomechanics analyst, Wade lived the evolution of baseball from feel-based coaching to data-driven development. His work in player development and biomechanics exposed a fragmented landscape. Motion capture systems, bat sensors, ball tracking, and video analysis tools all generated valuable data, but rarely spoke the same language. Coaches and players were left stitching together insights across disconnected platforms, slowing down decision-making in a sport where timing is everything.
Wade’s background in biomechanics and analytics gave him a different lens to view baseball player development. He understood not just how to collect data, but how to translate movement, mechanics, and performance into something measurable, repeatable, and improvable. The gap was clear: baseball didn’t need more data. It needed a unified system to unlock the data’s full potential.
At the same time, co-founder Chad Elliott brought a perspective from a completely different field: oil and gas drilling. With more than two decades of experience across major operators and basins, he had spent his career in environments where continuous measurement is not optional. In drilling operations, performance is driven by real-time data streams, integrated systems, and constant optimization. Decisions are made quickly because the data is centralized, contextualized, and trusted. That mindset shaped the second half of the Diamond View Analytics vision.
Where baseball workflows were fragmented, drilling operations were integrated. Where player development often relied on retrospective analysis, drilling relied on real-time feedback loops. The contrast revealed an opportunity: apply the discipline of industrial data integration and continuous optimization to baseball.
In 2024, Diamond View Analytics was launched to do exactly that. The platform unifies player development, opponent scouting, and recruiting into a single environment, bringing together data from multiple technologies into one cohesive view. By eliminating silos and enabling customizable analysis, it allows coaches and players to move from data collection to decision-making without friction. Diamond View Analytics exists because its founders saw the same problem through two different lenses and arrived at the same conclusion. When data is connected, performance follows.
